gmacFTP support

Help with connections, transfers, iCloud synchronization and importing server configurations.

Version 2.0.0

01

Start here

gmacFTP is a native macOS client for FTP, FTPS and SFTP. Add a server with the “+” button in Servers, then choose a local folder in Places.

The app supports two independent panes and multiple active sessions. Activate a server or place in either pane, then drag files between panes to start copying.

02

Connections and errors

If a connection fails, check the protocol, host, port, username and encryption mode. The app shows an actionable error message and the next step.

  • FTP: port 21; traffic is unencrypted and requires explicit confirmation.
  • FTPS: the server certificate must pass verification.
  • SFTP: on the first connection, verify the host key before accepting it.
  • A changed host key stops the connection and requires a separate decision.
03

Transfers and queue

Transfers can be paused, resumed or cancelled. After a restart, the app recovers tasks that have a safe resume point. When a name conflict appears, choose the appropriate action in the conflict sheet.

04

Imports and iCloud

Imports from FileZilla, ForkLift 2, Cyberduck, Transmit, gmacFTP 0.3.x and ~/.ssh/config are explicit: select the file or folder through macOS. Passwords and passphrases are handled by the macOS Keychain.

Profile metadata may sync through iCloud KVS and secrets through Apple's iCloud Keychain. Files, private keys and directory contents are not synchronized by the app.

05

Contact

For help, email . Include the gmacFTP and macOS versions, protocol and a redacted error message. Never send passwords, private keys or complete logs containing server data.
